A Surfleet pair want action from two councils following acquiring pest troubles at their residence for five months.

Stephen (63) and Jennifer Morley (72) explained their “embarrassment” at acquiring loved ones and friends spherical to their bungalow simply because of a mice and rat infestation.

The pair have complained to both of those South Holland District Council and Lincolnshire County Council about the trouble which they blame on a previous neighbour’s filthy property next doorway.

Stephen mentioned: “I understand that our next doorway neighbour had some psychological troubles and was struggling from diabetes.

“He was dwelling on food from the fish and chip store, something we only identified out about five months back when the law enforcement turned up and had to split in through 1 of the home windows.

“Our neighbour was taken to clinic and the district council arrived down and fumigated the bungalow next doorway.

We’re currently being inundated with rats and mice which is an embarrassment to us when we have loved ones and friends spherical

“They mentioned it was below regulate but we’ve had mice and rat droppings all more than the area and we can hear them scratching absent in the loft.

“We’ve created complaint following complaint and the councils have appear up with 1 excuse following a further.

“But we’ve heard absolutely nothing from them so I despatched an electronic mail which mentioned ‘Do as you will in your individual sweet time, we’ve had it so permit the comedy commence’. We’re currently being inundated with rats and mice which is an embarrassment to us when we have loved ones and friends spherical.”

Jennifer mentioned: “The employee who fumigated the property next to ours mentioned ‘you will not believe what’s in there’.

“But when the district council mentioned ‘we’ve received it below control’, we waited for a month and then received in contact with them yet again.

“The council mentioned ‘There’s absolutely nothing we can do right until our neighbour allows us know what they’re executing with the bungalow. Immediately after a further month, we known as the council yet again and mentioned ‘we’re currently being infested with mice and rats’. But all the council did was to mow the grass as it was knee large following telling us that the neighbour’s loved ones could not be situated.

“We even went to the fish and chip store in Surfleet simply because the operator was a pal of our neighbour’s for a extended time.

“But he didn’t know what was happening both as he hadn’t heard from our neighbour for months, in spite of making an attempt to see him at the residence that the county council’s social services team took him to. We’ve also been on to the district council’s environmental health and fitness team who despatched me a complaint type.

“It’s a shame that we’ve had this trouble for five months and it’s something we do not need at our age.”

A district council spokesman mentioned: “The tenant has not lived in the assets for about 4 months throughout which time our housing team has not had the authorized proper to enter the assets, but has continued to watch the condition. The tenant has now moved out completely and we will provide a detect to stop on his tenancy which will empower us to access the assets.”

Lincolnshire County Council mentioned they had absolutely nothing more to include to the district council’s statement.
