CECIL COUNTY, MD – Cecil County Animal Services has rescued 63 animals from neglect this week after an almost monthly survey, according to a statement from the county. Civil servants received a report that claimed that animals in the Eden Rehab and Rescue were not properly cared for. The allegations were that the animals were not fed properly.

A survey on Queen Street in Rising Sun on January 30 resulted in the confiscation of eight cats, four dogs, two turtles and a raccoon, the authorities reported. They were found in "negligent circumstances", according to a statement from Cecil County Animal Services.

Another location where the rescue works, in Elkton, has resulted in 26 cats and 22 dogs being rescued, officials said.

Many of them were emaciated and had hair loss and open sores on their bodies, according to the report.

They were discovered on January 23 in what officials said there were "deplorable conditions" at the facility in Elkton, in kennels that were saturated with feces and urine, limited access to fresh water, strong ammonia fumes and unquenched litter traps.

"I shudder to think about what could have happened to these animals if our team had not jumped in. Animal neglect and abuse is not something tolerated in Cecil County. & # 39;
