The best doggies from around the world are expected at Le Bourget this weekend. The fairground hosts the Paris dog show, a national and international competition with dogs and puppies representing more than 300 different breeds. In all, 4,500 animals will be presented at this event.

You can discover or find Central Asian Shepherds, Australian Mountain Dogs, Short-Haired and Long-Haired Collies, American Staffordshire Burrows, Pyrenean Mastiffs …

Passionate breeders

But beware, we can not necessarily talk about beauty pageants for this very famous parade. "We are looking for breed dogs closest to their standard," says Marie-France Varlet, president of the Ile-de-France canine society (Scif), which organizes the contest.

Ultra-specialized judges (some of whom will come from Finland, Turkey, Germany, Hungary …) will inspect the morphology of these dogs, one by one, in search of the best models. The national event takes place today, the international the next day.

To allow the public to attend more closely to the judgments, the animals are presented on small rings. And the most loyal spectators will certainly recognize owners who have already been to this show. "We have a lot of enthusiasts, dog breeders who come back regularly to introduce new dogs," says the president.

The first animals will be presented from 9 am this morning.
